Day 19

Mr. Bright Eyes was very pleasant this morning. He wasn't even bothered by the fact that he woke up with a giant zit on his chin.

I'm not really sure what was going on with his hair.

Colby received his first ever mail today. And man, did it take him a long time to open it.

Eventually, with a little help from me, he got it open. And to our surprise (and delight), it was a package from Daddy and the USO. Not only did Colby get a new book, he also got a DVD with Daddy reading the book to him. So we watched and listened and followed along with the book and...wow...what a wonderful gift.

Why?

Later this afternoon, Colby took his first nap in the crib. Finally! It lasted about 10 minutes. At least it's a start.

He woke up screaming and then promptly fell back asleep on me.

Time for some exercise.

With lips like these, I should have named him Jolie-Pitt.

Alright, after that big stretch Pouty McLiperson just made, it was sleepy time.

"Ooooooh...fading fast. Night night, Daddy."

Day 18

I love it when the boy wakes up in a good mood. I think he was just excited because he was getting ready to talk to Daddy.

His onesie says it all.

C'mon! Let's go!

He was so interested in his dangly toys, but he can't quite reach them yet.

It was a long day in the saddle. This cowboy is all tuckered out.

"Goodnight..................Daddy.....................Zzzzzzzzzzzz................"

Day 17

We mostly hung around the house today aside from making a quick trip to the base. I like the days when we aren't on a schedule and have no place to be. But I still had to dress him up in a cute outfit.

"I'm crabby!"
"Hahaha! Just kidding. I meant to say I have crabs!"
"Oh, no, um, that can't be right."
"I guess I'm crabby after all."
The crabby guy calmed down a little later and decided to be happy.

I was sticking my tongue out at him and he responded in kind.

He's getting a lot better at being content on his back. He's really starting enjoy the play mat, I think.

And after a long, grueling day of spit up and poop, little man just passed out on me.

"Oh so sleepy Daddy. Goodnight."

Day 11

We had a tired baby today. He was asleep most of the day. I guess his growth spurt is wearing him out. And speaking of a growth spurt, this was the outfit he had his portraits taken in 3 weeks ago. And 3 weeks ago, these overalls were long pants. Boys wear capris, right?

Wiggles and hiccups.

Not much action going on today. Like I said, he was very tired. He laid on the floor for a while and tried to scoot, but he quickly gave up and fell asleep again.

We went out to dinner with Angie and guess what? He slept.

But like always, he woke up once he got naked and ready for bed.

"I'm not really sleepy yet, but goodnight anyway, Daddy."

Day 8

Another lazy morning. Not much was going on except getting ready for my 6 week postpartum checkup. Little man slept a lot.

Back home and full of energy. Those neck and back muscles are getting stronger!

Hanging out on the play mat. He's actually playing with the dangling toys a little. They at least have his attention now.

Nom nom nom. Grandma's feet have been the highlight of Steele's day.

It's bedtime and he's soooooo sleepy.

Nevermind, he's awake now.

Check out that outie!
And those fat rolls!!!
"OK, sleepy again. G'night, Dad."

Day 7

Today had a slow start. Snugglebug was up until 2:00am and slept until 9:30am. And then, he still wasn't too interested in really waking up.

So I decided that a bath would help.

"Fine. I'm awake now."
I'm glad Steele and I had the talk about not sleeping on the laundry or Colby's playmat.

Colby was really excited to go to the audiologist and get his hearing checked.

"C'mon! Let's go!"
And his smug smile when we got back home tells you he passed with flying colors.

"Huh? What did you say? I couldn't hear you! <<hehehehehe>> "
As hard as I tried to capture his smiles and coos on video, he just wouldn't cooperate. So I give you wiggles, grunts and reflux:

All worn out and ready for a nap. And can I just mention how proud I am that I didn't have to change his clothes at all today? This may be a first!

And later in the night, it's finally bedtime. He snores just like his daddy.

"Goodnight, Daddy."
