Day 17

We mostly hung around the house today aside from making a quick trip to the base. I like the days when we aren't on a schedule and have no place to be. But I still had to dress him up in a cute outfit.

"I'm crabby!"
"Hahaha! Just kidding. I meant to say I have crabs!"
"Oh, no, um, that can't be right."
"I guess I'm crabby after all."
The crabby guy calmed down a little later and decided to be happy.

I was sticking my tongue out at him and he responded in kind.

He's getting a lot better at being content on his back. He's really starting enjoy the play mat, I think.

And after a long, grueling day of spit up and poop, little man just passed out on me.

"Oh so sleepy Daddy. Goodnight."

Day 16

Today started out A-OK.

Yup, feeling pretty good. We went for a pedicure today and again, he charmed the ladies. But really, how could they resist this face?

After lunch, he had some playtime on the floor. Steele joined in the fun.

And then we flipped over for some tummy time...he's still not crazy about it.

He does, however, like sitting up in his seat. And he's getting pretty good at it.

I can't decide why he's so mad at me. Is it because I dressed him like a farmer or because he's wearing silly, striped socks that are obviously too small for him?

Either way, he forgave me and we hung out for a while on the couch. With Remington.

And this was right before he kicked the cat in the head. You can see it in his eyes...he knew what he was doing.

Time for Colby and his big fat belly to go to bed. Seriously, he's got a mighty beer belly going.

"Oh...so full. Time to say goodnight Dad."

Day 15

Good morning world!

He was awfully happy this morning. 9 1/2 hours of sleep at night will do that for you.

Colby had some play mat time this afternoon and really enjoyed himself. He was chattering away at...something.

This evening's nap ended abruptly and he didn't like it.

Didn't like it one bit.

What is truly amazing is he can go from screaming so loud my eardrums bleed to this happy boy. All in the space of about a minute. All I've got to do is pull off his clothes. Let's hope he doesn't turn into the creepy guy who runs around town naked.

Notice the self-inflicted scratch on his forehead from when his life was full of despair earlier. Luckily, all is still well with him at bedtime. I told him it was time to say goodnight to his daddy and he cracked a little smile.

"G'night, Dad."

Day 9

Oh, what a day.

This face pretty much sums it up. For whatever reason, Colby was not a happy camper most of the day. And it was such a waste of a day since he slept for 8 hours straight last night. Oh well.

One of his few happy moments today.

We had some tummy time this morning, and well, like always, he HATED it. You can see the tears.

Instead of working on his neck muscles or trying to roll over or do something age appropriate, he goes straight for crawling. Sort of.

And after a few minutes...

Don't worry, it didn't last long. After a bit of snuggling from mama and his paci, he was fine. A little reminiscent of Maggie Simpson.

Some calmer moments this evening. Dressed as Tigger, of course.

Bedtime (finally!) and this was snapped about 2 seconds before he started howling again...for his pacifier. Let's hope tomorrow goes better.

"Goodnight, Daddy."

Day 6

Oh, what a beautiful morning. Colby slept 7 hours last night and woke up in a great mood. I'm so lucky to have a mostly happy baby. Mostly.

"That's right. Rockin' a fauxhawk."
"Yup. In my crib. But I'm still not going to sleep in it."

We were really bored today, so we went to Target. Colby was less than impressed, but I had fun spending Daddy's money.

And because he has been trying like crazy to sit up today, I bought him a new chair. He's still too young to be sitting up, but he does so well holding his head, this will just help to strengthen those muscles. It's made for 3 month to 14 month old babies, but the seat belt is 3/4 of the way to being maxed out! He's such a fatty. Maybe I'm biased, but he seems to be ahead of the curve for a 6 week old. He didn't do too badly for his first try.

Happy.

Angry.

Smile. Concentration. Poop. Reflection.

This little guy has had a long day. Time to say goodnight.

"Goodnight, Daddy."

Day 4

Today started a bit late. Snugglebug slept really well last night - 10-12, 1-7, then 8-10:30. So for once, we were both well rested. And he was in a great mood all morning.

Just look at those dimples!
After going out to dinner at Lotawata Creek (remind me not to go back anytime soon), it was time for a walk to the park.

"This isn't so bad."
"Wait a minute. Yes it is!!! I wanna go home NOW!"

Apparently, he was hungry.

Nom Nom Nom

And then all was well again.

"Touchdown!"
"I crack myself up!"

Time for the happy boy to go to bed.

"I love being naked."

Getting sleepy.

"Goodnight, Daddy."
