Day 17

We mostly hung around the house today aside from making a quick trip to the base. I like the days when we aren't on a schedule and have no place to be. But I still had to dress him up in a cute outfit.

"I'm crabby!"
"Hahaha! Just kidding. I meant to say I have crabs!"
"Oh, no, um, that can't be right."
"I guess I'm crabby after all."
The crabby guy calmed down a little later and decided to be happy.

I was sticking my tongue out at him and he responded in kind.

He's getting a lot better at being content on his back. He's really starting enjoy the play mat, I think.

And after a long, grueling day of spit up and poop, little man just passed out on me.

"Oh so sleepy Daddy. Goodnight."

Day 15

Good morning world!

He was awfully happy this morning. 9 1/2 hours of sleep at night will do that for you.

Colby had some play mat time this afternoon and really enjoyed himself. He was chattering away at...something.

This evening's nap ended abruptly and he didn't like it.

Didn't like it one bit.

What is truly amazing is he can go from screaming so loud my eardrums bleed to this happy boy. All in the space of about a minute. All I've got to do is pull off his clothes. Let's hope he doesn't turn into the creepy guy who runs around town naked.

Notice the self-inflicted scratch on his forehead from when his life was full of despair earlier. Luckily, all is still well with him at bedtime. I told him it was time to say goodnight to his daddy and he cracked a little smile.

"G'night, Dad."

Day 14

We spent a quiet morning at home after getting a wonderful, 8 1/2 hours of sleep last night. Oh, how I hope this lasts. This afternoon we had a trip to the chiropractor. He was such a good boy while we were there. He really charmed the ladies.

It was really hot outside this afternoon so the air conditioner was pumping out the cold air. And a cold house = cozy snuggle time.

"Oh, I'm so warm. This is nice."
"Hi."
He just pooped and I think he was really proud of himself.

There was apparently something really interesting on the wall. The best I can come up with is the light switch. Fascinating.

He seems to like it.

And apparently finds it hysterical!

Things are not so funny now. This is one serious face. He didn't like me telling him it was time for bed. The paci just popped right out.

"Fine. I'll go to bed. Goodnight, Dad."

Day 10

This morning got off to a messy start. I think he may have been drunk.

"Oh, I'm going to have such a hangover later."
How cute is this baby? I think I spent half the day holding him but how could I resist?

Just chillin'.

There's gonna be a dead cat soon.

I'm not sure what this face is.

He might be getting ready to punch me.

A little bit of play mat time. He looks mesmerized.

We were playing the game "mommy puts the pacifier in my mouth and I spit it out". So much fun.

Next thing I know, he grabbed it and put it back in his mouth by himself! He's been holding onto the ribbon/tab on the pacifier for a while and uses it to pull it out of his mouth but this was the first time he actually guided into his own mouth!!! My big boy! This was right after he did it...wish I had it on video.

Well, it's been a long day of...well...cuteness, I guess. Bedtime and he's looking sleepy.

"G'night, Daddy."

Day 8

Another lazy morning. Not much was going on except getting ready for my 6 week postpartum checkup. Little man slept a lot.

Back home and full of energy. Those neck and back muscles are getting stronger!

Hanging out on the play mat. He's actually playing with the dangling toys a little. They at least have his attention now.

Nom nom nom. Grandma's feet have been the highlight of Steele's day.

It's bedtime and he's soooooo sleepy.

Nevermind, he's awake now.

Check out that outie!
And those fat rolls!!!
"OK, sleepy again. G'night, Dad."

Day 7

Today had a slow start. Snugglebug was up until 2:00am and slept until 9:30am. And then, he still wasn't too interested in really waking up.

So I decided that a bath would help.

"Fine. I'm awake now."
I'm glad Steele and I had the talk about not sleeping on the laundry or Colby's playmat.

Colby was really excited to go to the audiologist and get his hearing checked.

"C'mon! Let's go!"
And his smug smile when we got back home tells you he passed with flying colors.

"Huh? What did you say? I couldn't hear you! <<hehehehehe>> "
As hard as I tried to capture his smiles and coos on video, he just wouldn't cooperate. So I give you wiggles, grunts and reflux:

All worn out and ready for a nap. And can I just mention how proud I am that I didn't have to change his clothes at all today? This may be a first!

And later in the night, it's finally bedtime. He snores just like his daddy.

"Goodnight, Daddy."
