Day 24

Awwww. Some days I like the cats. This is what I found when I first got up this morning. Steele is actually bigger than Remy and he's on his lap. Poor kitty.

Colby is 2 months old today and we were heading out to get his picture taken. We had a talk and agreed that he would be good and smile for the camera.

"Sure, whatever."
He apparently changed his mind. He did not crack a smile all afternoon. Until we got home, that is.

Here's my big boy trying to sit up by himself. OK, he had a little help from the boppy pillow.

"Look...toes!"
Just chillin'.

Getting ready for bed. His hair cannot be tamed.

He's almost asleep, but he's still working that pacifier.

"Night night, Daddy"

Day 23

Giddyup!

Ugh. What a morning. Colby did nothing but spew milk - like a fountain - hence the drenched bib. Poor baby. But despite the projectile dairy all over the couch, he was still in a pretty good mood.

The afternoon was spent practicing throwing gang signs.

Do you think the yellow elephant shirt is him flashing his colors?

Mr. Fat Cheeks and I got cozy on the couch this afternoon when he finally decided he could keep down his food. And he refused to smile.

He was such a snuggler this evening that he was barely off my lap. It was definitely time for bed and I hadn't even put his PJs on him. Poor kiddo had a rough day.

"I can barely keep my eyes open, Daddy. Goodnight."

Day 22

Not much to write about today. I was supposed to go and have my postpartum glucose tolerance test done today to see if I still have the beetus, but because someone kept me up most of the night, I rescheduled it for tomorrow. So we just hung around the house all day.

Buzzzzzzzzzzz.

That's a bumblebee joke.

This pic was snapped mid poop. He's putting forth a lot of effort and concentration.

Doing a little wiggling on the floor.

Goofy face #1.

Goofy face #2.

Big, wet, drooly smile.

Winding down in his baseball PJs.

And tucked in for the night in his swing. He was pleading with me to hold him some more. Just look at those eyes. Can you feel the guilt?

"She abandoned me, Daddy. So I guess I'll just go to sleep now. Goodnight."

Day 21

"Good morning, everyone! I'm perky and so is my hernia."

I'm pretty sure this is some sort of dance move. Jazz hands?

We went grocery shopping at the commissary this afternoon. Colby was not thrilled. However, he did enjoy all the attention he received. 3 people felt the need to gush over him and an old lady pinched his cheeks...good thing he's got a lot of cheek cushion.

Grandpa & Grandma came over later and the little guy got even more attention.

After going out to dinner with Grandma, we came home and he crashed. And by the way...how cute is his outfit?! It was finally chilly enough for flannel.

And then as soon as he got his jammies on, he woke up. All bright eyed and full of energy.

Well...time to try to get him back to sleep.

"I'm not going to bed anytime soon! But I'll say goodnight anyway, Daddy."

Day 20

Yeah...this is how the day started.

And it didn't get much easier. Nothing bad happened, it's just that I had a baby that demanded to be held...at all times. He wasn't in a bad mood, he was just needy. I guess it's okay since he's only 8 weeks old.

In the midst of a yawn.

One of the few moments that he was OK off my lap. I think this lasted about 10 minutes.

He's riding an invisible motorcycle.

Later this afternoon, I couldn't get a smile out of him at all. This is as close as I got. He would smile like crazy until I grabbed the camera. Ornery. Needless to say, there was no good video today.

Guess what? He's on my lap again. Bubs has got his jammies on and is ready for bed. Drooly mouth and all.

"It's bedtime, Daddy. Goodnight."

Day 19

Mr. Bright Eyes was very pleasant this morning. He wasn't even bothered by the fact that he woke up with a giant zit on his chin.

I'm not really sure what was going on with his hair.

Colby received his first ever mail today. And man, did it take him a long time to open it.

Eventually, with a little help from me, he got it open. And to our surprise (and delight), it was a package from Daddy and the USO. Not only did Colby get a new book, he also got a DVD with Daddy reading the book to him. So we watched and listened and followed along with the book and...wow...what a wonderful gift.

Why?

Later this afternoon, Colby took his first nap in the crib. Finally! It lasted about 10 minutes. At least it's a start.

He woke up screaming and then promptly fell back asleep on me.

Time for some exercise.

With lips like these, I should have named him Jolie-Pitt.

Alright, after that big stretch Pouty McLiperson just made, it was sleepy time.

"Ooooooh...fading fast. Night night, Daddy."
